Dr. Astrid Tripodi is a highly regarded veterinary scientist of Italian and German descent. With over two decades of experience in animal health, rural development, and global disease control, she is the co-founder and President of Snail Extract Therapeutics (SETs). Under her leadership, SETs has rapidly emerged as a pioneer in sustainable snail-derived bioactive compounds for the healthcare, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Tripodi’s vast expertise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) mitigation and One Health initiatives has positioned SETs as a key player in developing natural solutions to global health challenges.

Dr. Tripodi earned her veterinary degree in Munich, followed by a PhD equivalent with gold honors in Toulouse. After spending a decade in Vietnam, she worked on disease control programs across Asia and Africa. It was during this time that she recognized the escalating threat of AMR and the need for sustainable alternatives to traditional antibiotics, driving her to explore bioactive solutions derived from natural sources.

In 2019, Dr. Tripodi, already the founder of UNatural (Italy), partnered with Mrs. Silvia Torlasco, whose research into the skincare potential of Italian snails led to the discovery of snail secretions’ broader applications. Together with Dr. Andrea Alogna, they co-founded SETs in 2021, specializing in bioactive compounds from Achatina fulica snails, known for their antimicrobial and regenerative properties.
